Test system for testing PE / XLPE cables
Power networks
Ref.Num.:181
Specification:
Very low frequency cable (0.1 Hz) test system for testing PE / XLPE cables, compound-impregnated cables and mixed sections up to voltage class 15 kV *

* Test according to recommendation laid down in harmonisation document HD 620 S 1 of CENELEC,
included in DIN VDE 0276-620

Features:
VLF testing: 0 - 27 kVeff
DC testing: 0 - 27 kV
Maximum capacitance to be tested: max. 5 µF
Maximum cable length to be tested: up to 18.5 km at Up = 18 kV * (10 kV XLPE/PE cable, A = 500 mm² )

Just one device for testing with either VLF 0.1 Hz or negative DC voltage.

Rectangular cosine voltage: for stressing the cable in similar manner as with 50 Hz sine (mains frequency).

The patent ring-around technique used in the instrument re-uses the electric energy stored in the cable and so allows to reduce both weight and power consumption of the instrument while implementing high test capacitance as compared with other test methods.

Standard feature: break-down detection and circuit breaking

VLF / DC leakage current measurement.
